About SolarQuip

SolarQuip is the independent solar and battery engineering practice of Glen Morris, its General Manager — design, training, expert evidence and product testing, backed by more than three decades in renewable energy.

Glen has been designing and building renewable energy systems since 1991 — from large off-grid rural homesteads and island microgrids to infrastructure-scale storage and resilience.

He has lived off-grid for 36 years, which makes the work first-hand rather than theoretical.

For fifteen years Glen has helped shape Australia's renewable energy standards as a member of the Standards Australia committees EL-005 and EL-042, and as a linking member of NT-001. He helped develop AS/NZS 5033, 5139, 4777 and 4509, and served six years as Vice President of the Smart Energy Council (2012–2018). That standards grounding underpins SolarQuip's training, consultancy and expert-witness work.

He is the founder of SolarQuip and of SolarPlus (Solaris Pty Ltd), Australia's solar design software, and has trained a generation of designers and installers in solar and battery system design.

SolarQuip is based at Mount Toolebewong in the Dandenong Ranges, on a working off-grid microgrid that powers seven homes, ten EV charging stations and a twenty-bed community building, alongside teaching facilities and a solar testing site. It's both home and laboratory — where SolarQuip's testing and design methods are proven before they reach a client.

SolarQuip is the practice behind two sister operations: Smart Energy Lab, its technical-video arm reaching a 213K+ industry audience, and Solar Training Australia, its course shop.
