Costs vary widely depending on system configurations and energy needs but a small system would cost approximately (including GST) $15,000-20,000; medium system $30,000-$40,000; and large $50,000 upwards. Off-grid systems are also eligible for renewable energy certificates (REC's) on solar panels. The first 1.5kW of photovoltaic panels will receive five times the RECs under the Federal Government's "Solar Credits" program. Beyond 1.5kW standard RECs apply.
